Responsibilities

Position Overview:This is an opportunity to play a critical role in the digital evolution of NBC News, one of the world's best known and most trusted news organizations.

We are looking for a talented and versatile engineer to help increase our loyal audience and deepen its relationship with our digital brands. You will work alongside fellow inspired engineers in a collaborative, product-driven environment. You will use web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) to implement user experiences on both our on-domain website and an array of partner products including Apple News, Alexa, Facebook, and others. Responsibilities:

* Build maintainable solutions while pioneering development for new acquisition channels
* Be a significant contributor to our team's coding best practices and technical strategy
* Collaborate with product managers and designers to shape the products that we build
* Implement compelling UX for innovative news storytelling
* Optimize the UX of our sites across an array of browsers and web-capable devices
* Automate frontend testing to ship the highest quality experience for our audience

Qualifications/Requirements

Requirements:

* Comfortable working across a wide range of diverse user interfaces (Apple News format, Alexa skill, Facebook bot, newsletters, kiosks)
* Proven experience designing production-level, maintainable green-field applications and a fearless attitude toward digging into legacy code
* Adept at implementing user interfaces using declarative languages such as HTML, CSS, Apple News format
* Strong proficiency using Javascript (ES6+, modular design, async patterns)
* Extensive experience collaborating directly with designers and product managers
* Experience using both REST and GraphQL APIs as a data source
* Experience building user interfaces in a stateful UI (React, Vue, Ember)
* Strong debugging skills
* Experience with version control
* 5+ years experience in software development or related field(s)
* Be willing to work in New York
