Job Description

* In-depth understanding of networking systems and TCP/IP to include experience in IP Addressing and Subnetting; Network Address Translations; MTU; QoS.


* Expert knowledge of Routing and Switching systems (Cisco and Juniper expertise required); understanding of Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP) and Gateway Redundancy Protocols (HSRP, VRRP, and GLRP).


* Must have demonstrated experience implementing L2 and L3 VPN across an MPLS network.


* Demonstrated experience with Network Security (ACL's, IPSec Tunnels); SONET, MPLS, POS, Multicast and how to properly implement these technologies.


* Ability to perform (expert level) configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of IP network infrastructure (LAN and WAN devices).


* Demonstrate the ability to work with customers to determine network requirements, write system requirement documents, and develop design solutions (physical and logical) that comply with best engineering practices, standards, and guidelines.


* Experience with Type 1 cryptographic equipment from both an engineering and policy perspective


* General Knowledge of ground-based satellite termination equipment


* Required to travel at least 20% of the time to CONUS and/or (typically) non-hostile OCONUS locations


* Must be available/willing to provide on-call rotation as needed; typically one week for every 6 weeks


* Perform long-term O&M activities to include tier 4 troubleshooting and problem resolution.


* Explain design specifications to integration or test engineers. Develop plans or budgets for network equipment replacement. Prepare design presentations and proposals for staff or customers.


* Responsible for providing network-engineering solutions to include requirements gathering, architecture design, testing, implementation, documentation and supportability.


* Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented working environment


* Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices and ITIL framework


* Providing routing and switching technology expertise and guidance to IC working groups to enable change and improvement initiatives across the branch and network partner organizations when necessary



Qualifications

* Active TS/SCI with Poly Required


* BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system discipline and seven (7) years of progressive experience

* Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills. Ability communicate effectively the engineering designs and concepts to non-technical audiences



Certifications: ACTIVE CCNP and 10+ years of experience in IP network technology
