Job Description

Job Purpose

We are searching for a Senior Java Developer to help us build the next generation of instant messaging for financial derivatives traders. This person will be involved in all aspects of software development, from architecture to design, coding, testing, and performance tuning.

The ideal candidate will have server side Java experience with strong multithreading and concurrency emphasis. You should have a strong sense of ownership and be able to exercise independent judgment as well as collaborate effectively to execute effectively to address urgent goals in our fast paced environment. There's room for experimenting with emerging technologies as long as you can be pragmatic about their production use.

Responsibilities

* Designing and developing key system architecture
* Writing readable, testable code with an eye for performance
* Diagnosing and troubleshooting application issues in production and test environments.
* Participate in load testing and contribute performance enhancements

Knowledge and Experience

* 3+ years of recent server-side Java experience
* Strong knowledge of multi-threaded and concurrent Java development
* Good understanding of JVM internals, particularly Java garbage collection
* Knowledge developing, testing, and scaling distributed systems

Preferred Experience includes:

* Hands on experience developing systems using distributed data grids (Oracle Coherence, Gemfire, GridGain, Terracotta/Ehcache, etc), message oriented middleware (JMS, 29West, etc)
* Financial services experience, derivatives and option pricing
* Familiarity with Test Driven Development
