National Grid is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to support National Grid's Gas Business Enablement (GBE) program in Waltham, MA.

National Grid's Gas Business Enablement (GBE) program is a multi-year initiative investing in the future of our US Gas Business by modernizing and standardizing technology systems and processes. The DevOps team within the GBE program supports application teams in developing, building and deploying customized SaaS applications to support the performance, reliability and future growth of National Grid's US Gas Business. DevOps as part of the Scaled Agile Framework® drives the successful, on-time delivery of the GBE solution.

Job Purpose

The Gas Business Enablement program's DevOps team is looking for a Senior DevOps engineer to design, implement, and automate software build and deployment processes within our CI/CD platform. This role will work closely with our cloud platform provider as well as application development and operations teams and support industry standard applications such as Salesforce, Mulesoft, SAP, and Maximo.

The GBE program uses Jenkins, Ansible Tower, Bitbucket, Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Service Desk, Align), SonarQube, Artifactory, and Azure. This role will troubleshoot existing configurations, train others to use DevOps tools, and promote the use of agile DevOps tooling at National Grid.

Key Accountabilities

* Design, build and support new and existing continuous integration and delivery environments
* Manage our cloud deployment & configuration across production, staging, and dev/test environments
* Automate the deployment of new environments
* Develop scripts to automate and improve operational processes
* Plan and execute work using Scaled Agile methodology
* Monitor and respond to team and program performance metrics
* Troubleshoot DevOps toolchain deployment issues during cutover/go-live
* Partner with offshore and regional DevOps team members on automation projects
* Manage Kanban board, facilitate communication with other scrum teams, resolve roadblocks, escalate issues to Product Owners
* Lead agile teams within GBE and other teams within National Grid in the effective use of agile tooling and processes

Capability Requirements

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Resourceful with strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
* Driven to succeed independently as well as in a team-based environment

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or higher in IT related field
* Minimum 3 years DevOps, Release Management, or SRE experience
* Experience working in Jenkins, Ansible, AWS, Azure, OpenStack
* Scripting experience with Python, Powershell, Groovy, Bash, SQL, YAML, XML
* Experience implementing branching strategies

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with DevOps in an agile/SAFe environment
* Agile or SAFe certifications
* AWS, Azure, or other DevOps related certifications
* Experience working with Salesforce development teams
* Experience using automation tools such as Kubernetes, Cloud Formation, Docker
* Experience supporting deployments and builds in a 24/7 SaaS environment
* Environment management experience
