NBBJ New York is seeking a Senior Design Leader to lead the design of large, complex and program-driven building projects both domestic and international. NBBJ is a design-driven practice seeking top talent; our work requires high-performance designers who possess strong communication skills and graphic abilities, as well as the ability to work within multiple platforms and understand a holistic approach to design. The ideal candidate is a licensed Architect, with 15-20 years of experience, and is outgoing, charismatic and inspiring to others. Beyond mastery of design, the role requires a passion for mentoring and for nurturing the firm's design culture. It is critical for the Senior Design Leader to embrace the potentially opposing demands of our vision: inspired, innovative design as well as high-performance outcomes. The Senior Design Leader will have a leadership role beyond project-based and client engagement responsibilities. Candidates must have experience in leading the work of other team members, providing mentoring and guidance through an integrated delivery process. The Senior Design Leader will develop design concepts through to detail designs, including participating in the production of construction documentation. As NBBJ's expertise is in high performing corporate and commercial projects, the Senior Design Leader will participate in all aspects of design-as well as the other specialized sectors in which the firm works. They will be a champion for our work to our clients and the design community while simultaneously fostering an inspired and creative team.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

* · 15-20 years of professional experience in architecture
* · Bachelor's degree, B.Arch. or M.Arch
* · 10+ years as a Lead Designer with a proven record of building high performing teams
* · Architectural licensure required
* · LEED accreditation or within 18 months of hire
* · Core and shell experience required, as well as an interest in all aspects of design
* · At least 1 large project built in the New York area or north-eastern United States
* · Experience in corporate and commercial design
* · Strong conceptual design and schematic design skills
* · Must possess a keen interest in challenging the norms of the corporate and commercial markets and an ability to provide forward-thinking concepts with great clarity
* · Strong verbal and graphic communication skills, effective client relationship skills and a talent for working with diverse teams of architects and design professionals
* · Ability to work in Revit, with 3D modeling skills
* · Ability to lead design process and client interactions
* · Demonstrated knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, Rhino desired
* · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* · Ability to work in a collaborative, open environment
