Job Description

The Position

In this position you will be working in the Corporate Actuarial Department of a dynamic insurance company supporting the design, development and day-to-day operations of the group's financial reporting database. You will be partnering with fellow Database and Business Analyst team members, as well as Actuarial Analysts to carry out the functions necessary to support the actuarial reserving processes and corporate financial reporting.

Job Responsibilities

* Advanced SQL programming/ performance tuning/ index creation and T-SQL procedures development
* Proficiency in developing and deploying SSIS ETL Processes for performance and scalability
* Lead development and new report design and provide best guidance on using SQL Server Reporting Services
* Experience in data modeling and assist in design and development of a new data warehouse/datamart
* Hands on experience of developing dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tabular and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
* Experience working with a variety of stakeholders, from managers to technical resources, to include the translation of business requirements into operational processes and reports
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
* MS Excel (advanced spreadsheet knowledge, formulas, pivot tables, MS Query, macros, etc.)
* Ability and desire to learn business and create solutions with IT skills
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Ability to interact with management in professional manner and explain technical concepts

* Development and design of custom database applications, ETL processes, data visualization dashboards and reporting
* Work in a team environment as well as individually
* Optimize database design and functionality
* Document database design and procedures
* Work on ad hoc projects and reports

Required Skills/Experience

* Cognos - Framework Manager, Report Studio, Drill Through Reports and TM1, or in lieu of Cognos experience, an understanding of OLAP technology through familiarity with other OLAP applications (Hyperion, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, etc)
* Ability to understand current process/business needs and finding ways to improve efficiency
* Possess can-do attitude and work well in a fast paced environment
* Background in insurance or actuarial science a plus
* Python/R project experience
