The Data Center Sr. Ops. Manager will provide data center management for multiple customer sites. Responsibilities include ensuring that all data centers are highly available by configuring, maintaining, and regularly testing uninterruptible power supplies and environmental monitoring systems. Candidate ensures that HVAC systems are in good operating condition and under current service plans for preventative maintenance and coordinates with system administrators, customer Staff, and end users of the data centers regarding the physical layout, safety, orderly storage of supplies, maintenance of a spare parts inventory, maintenance of contingency plans and other security related documentation, and general cleanliness of facilities. Candidate follows a Change Management Process documenting all configuration changes via the customer Change Management Request system and obtain approvals prior to implementation.

Performs design and implementation of IT systems that require the integration of diverse and complex components. Activities include creating a problem statement, defining operational requirements including integration with other systems or components, researching and modeling the system architecture and configuration, investigation alternatives, cost analysis and estimation, and decision analysis. Ensures the logical ad systematic conversion of requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate requirements into hardware and software specification. Provides specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements, facility requirements (including floor layout, power & cooling, network connectivity), data storage, backup, monitoring, operations systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related discipline. Nine years' experience, of which at least seven years must be specialized. Specialized experience includes supervision and operations experience on a large-scale computer system, and knowledge of hardware, software and operating systems.

Required Skills:

* Minimum nine (9) years experience in operations on a large-scale computer system or a multi-server local area network.


* Able to obtain Public Trust clearance.



Desired Skills:

* Red Hat, VMware, Cisco, ITIL and HP certifications are highly desirable.


* Prior experience at NIH preferred.
