The Boeing Information Technology & Analytics is seeking a Senior C Programmer to join their team in Mukilteo, Kent, or Bellevue, WA.

The ideal candidate will have experience with C programming & Fortran or a working knowledge/desire to learn Fortran & Python. It's also important that this candidate have a passion for developing analysis algorithms to support & modernize applications.

Successful candidates will be able to bring computer science best practices to the table to translate the requirements in areas such as aerodynamic equations of motion, intensive math, physics algorithms to optimize & simulate aircraft performance involving thrust/propulsion forces, and aerodynamic drag forces applied into equations of motion.

Responsibilities:

* Compute certified and operational aircraft performance characteristics including takeoff, in flight, & landing scenarios
* Compute, optimize, & simulate characteristics of aircraft using math, physics, numerical programming
* Partner with engineers to obtain requirements/user stories and acceptance criteria and develop software for the design, certification and operations of Boeing airplanes - in particular, those which will help differentiate Boeing Airplanes in the marketplace. E.g.
* What is the range of Boeing Aircraft, what city pairs can we fly to?
* What is the cargo and customer payload?
* What is the fuel burn for given load scenarios?
* What loads/how much drag is created by this shape in different flight scenarios?


* Grow talent in the team and implement industry best practices (extreme programming) within the team.
* Establish environment for Test Driven Development and CI/CD Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (practice, teach)
* Configure & support DevOps environment for Test Driven Development methods and Continuous Integration for Agile Development
* Modernize & Re-factor code to reduce technical debt

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.)

Required Skills/Experience:

* This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
* Technical Bachelor's Degree or greater (A Technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific, or information technology field of study)
* 5+ years of experience in C Programming

Preferred Skills/Experience:

* Technical Master's Degree or greater (A Technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific, or information technology field of study)
* Web Services using Cloud Foundry experience
* Fortran77 experience
* Object Oriented Design using Java, C++
* Experience designing, configuring and supporting DevOps environment for Test Driven Development methods and Continuous Integration for Agile Development
* Ability to learn new languages with a willingness to learn Fortran and Python
* Agile Software Development, Paired Programming (practice, teach)
* 3+ years of experience developing in a Linux environment
* Numerical Analysis training and coding experience
* A willingness to learn Fortran Programming is a must
