Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

* Demonstrated proficiency and expertise using C++ in a Linux environment
* Experience with parallel, high performance computing, using multi-threaded programming techniques
* Understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, CPU issues, I/O issues, and bottlenecks
* Experience and desire to work in a team-oriented environment
* Attention to software quality
* Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred. Candidates holding Secret clearance with Top Secret eligibility will be considered. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed, U.S. citizenship is required.

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for a Senior C++ High Performance Computing (HPC) Software Engineer. This challenging and interesting position is a chance to participate in the development and operation of a state-of-the-art custom-built Big Data system and join a long-lived, stable program (ongoing for 28 years) consisting of a team of exceptional high-quality individuals using defined Agile software principles and practices.

The selected candidate will be expected to:

* Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions
* Participate in internal reviews of software components and systems
* Be responsible for resolution of significant and diverse problems and issues of broad scope and complexity
