Senior Backend Engineer- Web Acquisition

Job Description

We are looking for passionate senior backend engineers to join our rapidly growing Acquisition Software Engineering team to transform innovative and strategic ideas into integral business systems and tools. As part of the team, you will support our retail and e-commerce business, from working with our product team and supporting user-facing features, to ensuring data integrity and flow into our financial systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Mentor software engineers to nurture a culture of ownership, learning, automation, re-use, and engineering efficiency through the use of software design patterns and industry best practices
* Identify and lead technical initiatives to build clean, robust, and performant applications
* Collaborate with cross-functional team members from Product, Design, Program Management and UX in order to deliver against quarterly and annual roadmap objectives
* Own and deliver end to end API functionality from design/architect, to implementation, to testing, to production release, monitoring, and scaling as our business grows
* Handle planning and breaking down large projects into milestones and identifying risk and dependencies
* Break down tasks for other engineers and offer guidance to other engineers on the team when they are blocked
* Help design an architecture that meets the needs of the business and product teams
* Engage in code reviews helping maintain our coding standards
* Achieve on-time delivery without compromising quality

QUALIFICATIONS:

* 8+ years of software development experience in back-end development
* Demonstrable experience in having deployed applications commercially into production
* Embraces an agile mindset
* Have a solid understanding of clean software design principles
* Experience developing with test-driven mentality
* Experience mentoring engineers with team-focused mentality for success
* Experience with data modeling and at least one database engine
* Have experience with 2 or more aspects of our tech stack (Python, Postgres, AWS, GraphQL, DataDog, Docker, Kubernetes)
* Capacity to work in a high growth, fast-paced environment
* B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent years of work experience

BONUS POINTS:

* Have Github project(s) or contribute to open source communities
* Have experience with XP practices such as pair programming and Test Driven Development
* Have diverse knowledge of other programming languages and frameworks
* Have experience building Python based backend framework at scale
* Have experience using monitoring and metrics to support KPIs and performance of APIs
* JVM, microservice, and experience w/ event-driven architecture
* Have experience with e-commerce and/or integrating with ERP systems like Netsuite
