The ISD Customer Applications Branch is seeking a Senior Application Developer to provide application support of the Strategic Asset Management (SAM) application for CEO and ISD. The application is an important tool for capturing the condition of 4,000 County owned facilities and helping the County assess, plan and budget for the repair, renovation and replacement of these facilities. The application has been developed using open source technologies including Ruby on Rails, MySQL and Redis.

Essential Job Functions

Codes, tests, and debugs complex application programs to create new business applications and interfaces or maintains/modifies existing business applications according to program specifications.

Develops work plans and technical documents covering system architecture, conversion, integration, testing, and implementation for a new system or complex enhancement to a system.

Develops specifications for complex systems.

Develops and documents functional requirements.

Translates analytic models into operational solutions.

Sets-up and configures PaaS services to best practices.

Integrates asset provisioning with code release and continuous deployment processes.

Automates software deployment and configuration management.

Creates code assets and tools to accelerate customer projects.

Coaches customer and partner teams to be self-sufficient.

Requirements

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and experience with the following technologies and practices:

* Web software development
* Application development experience: Ruby on Rails, Redis, MySQL, SQL, AWS
* Server experience: RHEL, Nginx, Rackspace, AWS
* Client development experience with: (X)HTML, CSS, Javascript
* Strong knowledge of version control systems (git) and application deployment (Capistrano)
* Use of the County's eGIS and the ability to link information into the SAM database/application
* Knowledge of barcode technology and mobile solution interfaces Experience building and supporting production APIs
* Rspec for testing
