Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the largest Cloud provider in the world and our security teams solve some of the most challenging and interesting problems to effectively mitigate large-scale threats. Paramount to our success is ensuring that customer data is secure with AWS.

As we expand into more international locations and continuously innovate, AWS is seeking an experienced and self-motivated technical program manager (TPM) with strong technical skills, proven record of creative approaches to achieving security across the organization in an efficient and effective manner. As a member of the AWS Security Emerging Region Assessments (ERA) Team, the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to strengthen security as AWS expands globally.

The ideal candidate would have excellent communication skills, the ability to influence people from customers to to peers to managers by creating win-win solutions, and the desire to be an individual contributor in securing Amazon's next-generation cloud. We are looking for an individual that can think like a security engineer and has a deep knowledge of security concepts and the software development life cycle. This individual should also have a strong ability to understand various IT and cloud regulatory frameworks and the security impact thereof. The candidate must have a strong understanding of risk-based decision-making as the candidate will be making critical judgment calls on a regular basis.

As part of AWS Security, the successful candidate will be expected to manage drive success on tasks across a diverse customer base and in different stages of a projects life cycle or region build. The candidate will have the opportunity to build and iterate innovative approaches to identifying, assessing, and driving security. The TPM must be comfortable with balancing strategic thinking with tactical, detailed execution while working independently, sorting through ambiguously defined problems, identifying and facing big challenges and adjusting to sudden and frequent change. This role acts as a key liaison with service teams and AWS Security to implement security initiatives. The TPM will also interface with data center operations and service teams as necessary to understand the changing technical environment and clearly communicate security requirements. The TPM should have experience in technical environments and program/project management experience to drive and influence technical solutions across the organization in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Develop and/or mature innovative approaches that effectively manage risks while meeting the needs of internal customers and minimizing business impact;
* Identify, assess, manage, remediate, and track activities within the AWS Security, to include risk identification, assessment, evaluation, tracking and mitigation;
* Evaluate the risks of entering new locations worldwide and establishing discrete, actionable mitigations;
* Develop a working knowledge of the operational processes and controls in place that support AWS Security;
* Drive process improvement and control implementation projects through coordination with AWS teams.
