EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

Our team wants to change the way enterprise software is built. The Scrum Master will be driving special pilot and incubation projects with a focus on validating new enterprise product and technology approaches and the goal to actively help shaping SAP's future Cloud ERP product.

In Agile, the Scrum Master cares about the team functionality. They increase team efficiency, motivates the team, spins, and argues for changes that will ensure quality and timeliness. The Scrum Master monitors the scrum processes and meetings and ensures the DoD (Definition of done) is being followed.

* Leads small to midsize projects in the development organization with a moderate level of risk and complexity. Ensures to meet program specific goals (scope, quality, budget, time).
* Managing a classical project or coordinating a LEAN project as scrum master.
* Applying proven (PMI, LDM) project management methodologies (Project Planning, Kick-off meeting, Leading Teams without formal authority, Risk-, and Change- Management, Project Communication and Monitoring, Commitment Management).
* Inbound and outbound communication.
* Supports stakeholder management: provide transparency on project status, active alignment with stakeholders, ensures timely escalation.
* Supports project delivery according to program specific goals (scope, time, quality, budget) ready for customer usage.
* Contributes to Continues Improvement by leading retrospectives and forwarding impediments into the CIP process.
* In context of LEAN projects with internal deliveries might have product or service delivery responsibility.

WORK EXPERIENCE

* Strongly serving and supporting the Product Owner and Development Team in their quest to do everything possible to delight customers.
* Guiding and Coaching the Scrum Team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers.
* Guiding and Coaching both the Scrum Team and the Development team on how to get the most out of self-organization.
* Shares knowledge and helps grow the capabilities of the team through presentations, mentoring, and coaching in your implementation team.
* Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
* Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the
* right personnel to remove the impediment.
* Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving.
* Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining (aka grooming) and managing the product backlog.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Management or related fields.
* Is as scrum master organizing the Scrum / Implementation team and project work and is responsible that LEAN methodologies are understood and put into practice properly in context of LEAN projects together with Product Team.
* Is aware of up-to-date Project Management (e.g. PMI, LDM) concepts, processes, and technologies and applies these techniques in his daily work. Is internally recognized as a specialist in project management. Actively participates in the project- and development community. Uses actively LEAN practices, methods and tools in his working environment.
* First level Scrum Master certification (PSM I, CSM).
* Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least one year for a Scrum Team.
* Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
* Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc)
* The ability to distinguish between what "is Scrum" what is "not Scrum"
* Ability to work in virtual teams and manage peer networks

PREFERRED SKILLS /EXPERIENCE (Any of these is a plus)

* Second or Third level Scrum Master certification (PSM II, PSM III, CSP, CTC).
* Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a Scrum team.
* Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc).
* Track record of continued and recent education in Scrum, including training, conferences, user groups, self-study, etc.
* Knowledge of other approaches discussed in the Agile space: XP, Kanban, Nexus, LeSS, SAFe, Crystal, FDD, etc.
* Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
* Experience applying a wide variety of well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc).
* Minimum of 3 years of related experience in product software development, consulting and/or product management.
