Job Description

The Scrum Master will work within the Application Development group which is responsible for scoping, designing, developing, and delivering software/services leveraged by our various business stakeholders. This person will be responsible for overseeing the development team(s) and working under the Agile methodology, ensuring that the development team is productive and focused in support of the Agile development process, as well as guiding the team on how to get the most out of self-organization.

The ideal candidate is someone who can combine high-availability, resourcefulness, creativity and stellar communication skills. They should be actively engaged with the teams, and be able to work closely with all team members, as well as management throughout the organization.

Specific Responsibilities Include

* Schedules and facilitates the regular Scrum events for the team, keeping the purposes and desired value in view throughout.
* Assists and guides the team in the identification and removal of impediments for the Scrum team.
* Works closely with management to provide visibility on team health, progress, and impediments.
* Coaches the Scrum team in the values and practices of Scrum and Kanban.
* Guides the Product Owner in keeping the Product Backlog in good shape and prepared for the next Sprint(s).
* Guides the team in developing and maintaining team standards, tools, and best practices.
* Prepares and provides training in the Agile mindset and in Scrum and Kanban practices.
* Works closely with management to provide visibility on team health, progress, and impediments, identifying opportunities and making recommendations.
* Interfaces with other teams (both Agile delivery teams and teams in other organizations) to coordinate and manage activities/dependencies, working together to improve the flow of value delivery of the value stream.
* Works with management on scaling practices to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the overall delivery system.
* Mentors and guides other Scrum Masters in the work group for their individual development and also for the building of system-level learning and improvement.

Knowledge & Skills Required

* Strong knowledge of Scrum theory, rules and practices
* Understands incremental development fundamentals
* Proven leadership skills
* Ability to keep the team focused on sprint tasks, remove impediments and enable the team to meet delivery goals
* Ability to drive project related risks and issues to resolution, and to drive desired outcomes
* Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, to leverage new opportunities, and to demonstrate appropriate agility

Required Experience & Education

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
* Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience including:
* Experience working with Agile/Scrum and/or other iterative software development processes
* 4+ years of Scrum Master and Agile project management experience


* Experience in financial services industry is preferred
