As a Software Design Engineer with the SAP Concur Expense Engineering team, you will help deliver a high availability, 24/7 SAP Concur Expense service. SAP Concur's expense management platform is experiencing terrific growth. Our team is responsible for managing user expenses. The service needs to handle large volumes of traffic and is key to our mission of making business traveler's life simpler. As part of the team that manages the user's expenses, you will build new capabilities, address critical client facing issues and help us get to our future vision of service oriented architecture.

This is how job responsibilities will look like:

* Learn the current system architecture/technology and functionality within first 6 months


* Contribute to product enhancements (APIs, feature set)


* Learn tools such as NewRelic to measure application performance. Help identify bottlenecks in performance


* Build automation to exercise product functionality


* Dive into and solve critical customer issues when needed



In order to accomplish this you will need:

* Experience with programming languages: Have proficiency with Java. That is our primary choice to build scalable services. Familiarity with spring framework and spring boot would be ideal. Experience with object oriented concepts is a must have competency.


* Experience with various database technologies: We use both relational and NoSQL databases. Experience with multiple database technologies is a must.


* Desire to learn new technologies


* Experience building Web APIs: Our services our RESTful. Experience building production grade RESTful services is highly desirable.


* Experience building applications on a cloud platform: We are moving to AWS and experience with AWS or other cloud platforms is highly desirable


* Team player: highly collaborative, an effective communicator able to listen to/work with others.


* As an Individual: Have a result driven personality, high enthusiasm, energy, confidence and most importantly have a sense of humor.
