In the first 12 months you will:

* Ship: (several iterations, in fact). The most import thing that our team can do for the company is to ship production software. Aside from adding direct value to our customers, it is also the ultimate validation of our research efforts.
* Learn: We move fast and are unafraid to venture into the unknown if it can improve our software or the way in which we deliver that software. As a result, we are constantly learning new technologies and new approaches.
* Lead: Everyone must be constantly learning and must be constantly teaching others on the team. This can come in the form of code reviews, one on one pairing sessions, group teaching sessions, and more. More broadly, you will be a part of the team that is helping to lead the rest of the company to a new architectural paradigm with a new set of technologies and a new set of approaches.

In order to accomplish this you will need:

* Strong knowledge of Object-oriented concepts and Java programming
* A strong background in distributed, UNIX-based systems, ideally on a public cloud platform like Amazon Web Services (AWS).
* Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant technologies such as Web Services, APIs, API testing, Database, UI stack
* Solid understanding of data structures, software architecture and algorithms
* Good understanding of database technologies, including SQL databases. Working knowledge of NoSQL technologies
* Strong understanding and experience of Software-As-A-Service and Cloud computing practices
* Results driven personality, high enthusiasm, energy and confidence
* Strong analytical and design skills - you should be able to think about problems broadly and deeply. From the technology perspective, you should be able to design a system from subnets to algorithms.
* A "maker's mind". Everything we do is about building and shipping software.
* A high degree of intellectual curiosity and a lack of fear for learning something new. You should be open to learn from others and also willing to help mentor and teach.
* Experience building applications on a cloud platform such as Amazon, Google, Azure etc. highly desirable
* Effective communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
* Hands on experience in solutions engineering and architecting software solutions would be a plus
* A passion for new and emerging technology. Our current stack includes Nodejs, MongoDB, CoreOS, Docker, AWS services such as SQS, S3, and VPC.

What do you need to bring?

* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
* 10+ years of experience delivering successful software development projects
* Experience developing global Web services that can scale to millions of users
* 5+ years of experience with Java. Proficiency with functional programming techniques is highly desirable.
* 5+ Experience with database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL databases
* 5+ years of related DevOps experience and application support in an enterprise environment
* 3+ years of experience deploying applications (across multiple versions) to a public cloud platform such as AWS. Proficiency with Linux container technology such as Docker is highly desirable
