SAIC has an opening for a SAN Engineer located in Vienna, VA.

Description:

Provides SAN-storage management and administration support for all network server systems within the enterprise on various computer platforms. Serves as a senior level technical resource for the design and support of the storage systems (SAN) and VMware for the enterprise as well as insure proper maintenance of management tools, documentation, and disaster recovery processes and procedures. Works with system administration, network, and applications groups and other departments to provide a stable and scalable storage infrastructure. Provides technical, performance, and operational analysis for all SAN-storage hardware in the Data Center and makes recommendations for improvements with senior-level coordination with other related systems.

Detailed Responsibilities/Duties:

* Developing functional process diagrams for SAN services
* Provide engineering and installation support focusing on the design, implementation and maintenance of SAN services
* Designing, installing, provisioning, configuring, optimizing, performance tuning, integrating, testing, administering, and troubleshooting SAN solution technologies in a production environment
* Complying with all applicable security and Information assurance (IA) policies and directives
* Developing comprehensive test cases to include testing scenarios for both normal and degraded (e.g., disaster recovery, continuity of operations, data recovery/spills, etc.) operations, pass/fail criteria, performance criteria, capacity planning, measurement criteria, results analysis procedures, and results/status reporting criteria
* Supporting and documenting the implementation of approved changes to system configurations, software, and infrastructure within the approved testing/deployment schedule
* Providing ongoing progress to leadership, system owners, and peers regarding the health of the environment and status of testing
* Researching and analyzing emerging SAN technologies, techniques, protocols and making recommendations
* Assisting with procurement of hardware, software, and services
* Supporting the installation of new SAN technology components, as required

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Additional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Required Experience/Skills/Attributes:

* Have a strong technical understanding of storage technologies to include Flash storage, de-duplication, data replication, disaster recovery, and software defined storage concepts
* Have a strong technical knowledge of NetApp; NetApp certification/s
* Have a strong technical knowledge EMC VMAX, DataDomain, Tintri, and Pure storage arrays
* Have a strong technical knowledge of EMC SRDF
* Have a strong technical knowledge of Cisco SAN fabric switching and design.
* Have a strong technical knowledge of SAN multi-pathing design (NFS and iSCSI), configuration, and performance tuning.
* Have a strong technical knowledge of storage design within multiple virtual environments in geographically separated locations.
* Participate in the evaluation and implementation of data storage technology solutions.
* Review requirements and determine data storage needs.
* Interpret the storage requirements of projects and apply the existing Storage technology standards to system designs.
* Assist with researching new Storage technologies and evaluate business benefits and costs. Build business case to adopt, implement, and or retire Storage and Storage related technologies
* Develop, maintain, and provide technical expertise in order to transfer knowledge, storage systems, and other infrastructure components

Desired Experience/Skills/Attributes:

* EMC Foundations, EMC VMAX and DataDomain Certifications.
* Experience with Tivoli Storage Manager
* Experience with CA Spectrum (and Zenos) is a plus
* Extensive experience with the administration, operation and maintenance of VMware ESXi 6.x, VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter SRM, Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016.
* Experience with Pure storage
* Experience with Tintri storage
* Experience with Veeam
* Experience with Tivoli Storage Manager

* Data Encryption (HW and SW), both at rest and in transit
* Optimization for Data Recovery
* Applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) as applicable

Clearance Requirement:

* Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance prior to starting work. Must be US Citizen
