Overview

The Marcus Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew SeniorLife seeks a Research Software Developer / Data Scientist to collaborate with clinical researchers and biomedical scientists in support of studies of human aging.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join a diverse and productive team of quantitative scientists, informaticians and computing professionals conducting high-impact clinical research using contemporary and advanced technologies. Duties will include development and deployment of software solutions for real-time data capture, visualization, and analytics; development and deployment of tools for consistency with contemporary database standards; support for scientific computing in a server environment; training and collaborating with quantitative and medical professionals on scientific projects; and development of documentation of same. The incumbent will enjoy extensive opportunities for participation in collaborative biomedical research and continuing education, including external training as appropriate. This is a high-visibility, collaborative role with the potential to rapidly advance the career of a developer and analyst inspired to use their skills and creativity to better human health.

Qualifications

MA/MS in computer or data sciencesMinimum 2 years' experience in software development requiredCreativity and passion for solving problems in service of advancing the biomedical and quantitative sciences Familiarity and use of command-line tools in a Unix/Linux environmentDatabase technologies including SQL; experience with statistical programming languages (R, SAS) and scripting (Python, Perl)Experience in managing a server software environmentStrong communication and presentation skillsExperience in collaborative scientific research and data visualization; use of version control platforms (e.g. git) and freeware data management tools (REDCap)Beginning to intermediate skills in statistical model development; experience with machine learning and big data analysis; interest and/or experience in teaching, training and mentoring
