As a Research Scientist on Fraud, you will collaborate with our world class team of data scientists and engineers to fight fraud and build user trust on the Lyft platform. You will develop cutting-edge deep learning models to identify suspicious behavior patterns among passengers and drivers. We aim to target all types of malicious activity with measures that remain invisible to good users, and machine learning models are at the heart of our system. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with an understanding of what it takes to win against bad actors. Responsibilities:

* Work with Data Scientist, Engineers, Analysts, Product Managers, and Operations to frame problems, both mathematically and within the business context
* Perform exploratory data analysis to gain a deeper understanding of the problem
* Build Machine Learning models, including deep learning models
* Write production modeling code; collaborate with Software Engineers to implement algorithms in production
* Design and run user experiments
* Analyze experimental and observational data; communicate findings; facilitate launch decisions

Experience & Skills:

* M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other quantitative fields
* 4+ years professional experience. Some fraud experience strongly preferred
* Passion for solving unstructured and non-standard mathematical problems
* End-to-end experience with data, including querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization
* Proficiency with Python
* Willingness to collaborate and communicate with others to solve a problem
