Quality Engineer - Pleasanton, CA.

Appen is seeking a talented Quality Engineer to join the Pleasanton Engineering organization. The Quality Engineer will be primarily be responsible for quality of our systems. The QA Engineer will Debug software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for company products. Develops, modifies, and executes software test plans, automated scripts and programs for testing. Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures. Maintains documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software. Analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality and recommends corrective action. Consults with development engineers in resolution of problems. Provides feedback in preparation of technical appraisals of programming languages, systems, and computation software. Ensures quality computer integration into the overall functions of scientific computation, data acquisition, and processing.

Position responsibilities

* Collaborates with engineering and product owners to ensure requirements are met
* Develops modifies and executes software test plans, automation scripts and programs for testing.
* Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures. Maintains documentation of test results.
* Ensure functionality and quality recommendations

Required skills

* Understanding of QA process for software development, debugging and release
* Experience with tools such as jUnit, JMeter, Selenium, Cactus
* Able to write test scripts for both web interfaces and Java services
* Experience in J2EE environments
* 4+ years Engineering experience in a professional services environment
* Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt your message to the context of the audience.
* Ability to juggle multiple conflicting priorities, respond quickly and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
* Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills

Plusses

* Experience in writing tests in Java, for Java
* Extensive experience with Selenium or other web UI testing frameworks
* Basic knowledge of Python scripting
