Job Description

A rapidly expanding, entrepreneurial technology company, Alarm.com, is seeking a motivated engineer who wants to be part of a fast-paced, rapidly growing team. The Quality Engineer works with the team to test software functionality and performance. They test wireless network devices and security control panel configurations.

In This Role, You Will

* Understand product functionality, data content, and system architecture of the product being tested.
* Execute tests, track defects, and follow defects through the resolution process until fix is verified and closed.
* Conduct testing approaches including: white-box, black-box, positive/negative testing, and use testing types including: functionality, security, regression, UAT, and, where applicable, performance/stress tests.
* Interact with Developers, Business Analysts, and Product Management to ensure the quality of the software product.
* Apply test methodology, engineering, and product knowledge in certification of products.
* Ensure the success of weekly software and web deployments.
* Understand advanced product functionality and data content of the product being tested.
* Onboard new devices in area of focus.

Essential Skills Required

* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Strong analytical skills
* Ability to work in combination of hardware, software, and network technologies
* Ability to interpret a variety of technical information
* Process-oriented with ability to pay close attention to details
* Ability to work independently under general supervision. Be proactive in solving day-to-day issues
* Team-oriented individual
* Ability to develop test scripts using a variety of languages including: Java, C++, PHP, Perl, JMeter, Javascript and shell
* Ability to build and maintain test servers based on Linux and CentOS

Qualifications

* 0-3 years relevant experience
* BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required
