Job Description

Overview

Under the direction of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher licensed medical professional, the Quality Assurance (QA) Coordinator manages the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of performance data relative to specified quality improvement programs within the correctional facility. In addition, the QA Coordinator maintains documents and records data according to protocol requirements and state and federal health care standards.

Qualifications

Education:

* Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program
* Training in processes and quality tools

Experience:

* Minimum one (1) year of experience
* Two (2) or more years of experience working in a QA setting or hold certificate in quality (i.e. Green Belt, Certified Quality Technician, Quality Improvement Associate or Quality Inspector)
* Previous correctional/detention facility experience

Licenses/Certifications:

* Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA
* Current (and must maintain) lifesaving ACLS certification through AHA

Responsibilities

* Collects, analyzes, and oversees data entry on relevant quality performance indicators


* Apply statistical methods, understand and use quality tools, measures process performance


* Prepare formal reports


* Monitors and evaluates appropriateness of facility quality control plans and practices


* Designs, schedules, and conducts quality review audits as appropriate to the facility


* Performs or coordinates chart and/or other medical record reviews and records and/or abstracts specific relevant data as appropriate


* Generates and/or coordinates the development of various reports regarding performance against quality indicators, as appropriate to the individual position


* Participates in the planning, development, coordination, and presentation of specific training and educational programs


* May assist in the job shadow portion of the interview process of potential staff


* May assist in orientation and training of new employees


* Perform other duties as assigned.
