Job Description

The Department of Biomedical informatics seeks a full stack programmer analyst. Reporting to Dr. Chunhua Weng, the contact PI of the NIH-funded eMERGE grant, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, the incumbent is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing computerized systems to integrate genomic knowledge into electronic health records.

The project involves selecting, extracting and processing public genomic knowledge from various online databases, understanding and streamlining the data flow for generating and disseminating genetic tests reports within Columbia University Medical Center, extracting key data elements from these free-text genetic reports, and integrating the genomic information into our electronic health record systems for providing decision aids to clinicians and patients. Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience. Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Experience in web development, SQL Server Data Management, Perl, Python, HTML5, CSS, Javascript, SQL, and Unix. Special consideration given for familiarity with Web 2.0 technology and graphic design. Special Instructions Preferred Qualifications Essential Functions DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Serve as a member of a technical team.
* Responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing the informatics solutions.
* Needs assessment, design, coding, documentation, testing, and updating.
* Translating technical specifications to meet requirements within the established software framework.
* Make presentations on a regular basis to eMERGE project PIs, executive management, and administrators to report status and obtain direction.
