Must reside within Kaiser Permanente Washington Region

Research, design, implement and support complex IT Infrastructure Solutions and Systems. Top level technical expert in IT systems specializing in one or more specific technology area (Infrastructure Application , Networks, Telephony, Server Operating Systems, Desktop Operating Systems, Virtualization, Directory Services, E-mail, Disaster Recovery, Security, Antivirus, Storage Management, Print Management, Hardware Management, Mobile Device Management, Application Deployment, PKI) in a wide variety of technologies (i.e., software and/or hardware). Maintain high degree of awareness about emerging technologies and advise IT management. Provide expert advice and engineer repeatable processes relating to deployment, support and maintenance of all areas of expertise. This could include some project management of internal projects.

Essential Responsibilities:

Engineering Support: Principal Engineer responsible for research, design and implementation of complex systems relating to one or more specific technologies or protocols to include but not limited to: Infrastructure Systems, Server Operating Systems, Desktop Operating Systems, Virtualization, Directory Services, E-Mail, Disaster Recovery, Security, Storage Management, Print Management, Hardware Management, Mobile Device Management, Application Deployment, Applications, Telephony, Networks and Interfaces. Provide documentation and cross train team members on any responsible technologies.

Systems Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting support, including on-call, problem resolution and maintenance of responsible systems. Provide support and maintain standards relating to responsible technologies.

Project Support: Provide expert advice and project representation and leadership to KFHPW application owners and IT leadership relating to infrastructure systems, operating systems, security, application deployment, systems integration, ordering, equipment standards or any other responsible technology.

Standards, Stewardship & Strategy Support: Provide guidance and develop standards relating to infrastructure systems, operating systems, systems integration, interfaces, security networks and hardware. Design and implement quality assurance check to ensure adherence to standards and quality services are met. Work with IT Finance and Procurement to facilitate purchase of standard equipment and services. Provide expert advice to leadership regarding information technology strategy and direction. Act as principal systems engineer in designing the next wave of technologies implemented at KFHPW.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

Minimum ten (10) years of IT experience with any combination of the following: applications development, system technical support, systems administration, network engineering or system architecture.

Minimum eight (8) years of experience researching, designing, implementing complex systems.

Education

Associate's degree OR a minimum two (2) years of experience in a directly related field.

High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

Expert knowledge of enterprise environments and ability to engineer solutions to include but not limited to: Infrastructure Systems, Server Operating Systems, Desktop Operating Systems, Virtualization, Directory Services, E-mail, Disaster Recovery, Security, Antivirus, Storage Management, Print Management, Hardware Management, Mobile Device Management, Application Deployment, Networks, PKI, and DNS.

Ability to understand complex systems and IT protocols.

Ability to integrate the most complex hardware and software systems.

Ability to constantly adapt, learn and support new technologies.

Assume full ownership/responsibility of assigned responsibilities and delivers services guidelines with little or no supervision.

Strong technical and analytical skills required in solving complex systems infrastructure issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

BA/BS degree OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

Recognized as a high performer and expert in one or more technology subject areas.
