We currently have an opening in our Clarksburg office for a Systems Engineer. The candidate will have responsibility for systems engineering activities associated with wireless communications systems, including handheld, shipborne, and fixed site systems. The candidate should be familiar with wireless communications systems operating in the HF, VHF, UHF and L-Band spectrum. This position reports directly to the Director of Systems and Software Engineering.

Responsibilities

* Support Business Development with customer meetings, requirements elicitation, architecture development, and systems implementation.
* Provide subject matter expertise as a project design authority of HF, UHF, VHF, and L-Band systems.
* Collaborate with our European divisions in the development of new products and product roadmaps capturing unique requirements for the U.S. market.
* Develop technical proposals and support cost estimations.
* Evaluate competing product and solution offerings.
* Represent Thales at relevant industry forums.
* Serve as a customer liaison, supporting design reviews and other technical interchanges.
* Support field installation, testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting of equipment.
* Support government certification testing of equipment.
* Support spectrum certification.

Qualifications

* Candidate MUST be U.S. citizen US. The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
* Experience with system level design, development, and testing of tactical, secure, state-of-the-art military communications systems.
* Experience with requirements elicitation, decomposition, traceability and lifecycle management.
* Experience with portable, battery operated embedded systems design.
* Knowledge of RF design, Digital design, Software design, and Information Security.
* Experience working in a laboratory environment with RF and Digital test equipment.
* Experience working with Software Defined Radios (SDRs).
* Experience with mobile ad-hoc networking waveforms.
* Familiar with current 3 kHz HF waveforms and standards such as MIL-STD-188-141, MIL-STD-188-110, and MIL-STD-188-203-1A as well as wideband HF requirements.
* Should be familiar with shipborne and fixed site HF architectures, including 125W, 500W, 1 kW transmitters with narrowband and broadband antennas.
* Must have strong presentation and writing skills.
* 8+ years as a Design Engineer
* BSEE, BSCS, or equivalent at a minimum.
