DESCRIPTION:

This role will serve as a key role to design and operationalize enterprise wide applications and the supporting infrastructure. You will leverage your technology expertise in Infrastructure domains, including data-center, networks, storage, servers and service monitoring to deliver technology solutions for business. In addition, responsibilities of this position will include development of designs, reference architectures, and standards for secure infrastructure across the enterprise. The position will be responsible for understanding and interpreting business and technical requirements in order to deliver solutions.

The Senior Principal Engineer will:

* Provide thought leadership regarding application design, architecture, integration and define highly complex technology-based business solutions


* Lead and mentor other team members


* Learn and understand the intricacies of the existing infrastructure and develop standards for a cloud migration strategy


* Work with the management team to establish an exit strategy from our on premise data center to a cloud provider


* Participate in documenting business and technical requirements


* Interpret business and technical requirements and translate them into capacity and capability requirements


* Deliver designs and engineering artifacts for construction by the implementation team and third-party vendors


* Work with stakeholders and implementers (internal and third party) to deploy technologies


* Work with project team to ensure timely delivery of enterprise wide projects


* Responsibilities:


* Work closely with analysts, strategists, business users and product management. Document related technical requirements. Quantify the impact of business and technical requirements on capacity, resiliency, and design.


* Use business and technical requirements as well as impact analyses to develop requirements for future infrastructure needs.


* Utilize monitoring tools and other resources to plan and implement changes and upgrades before they become critical or impact the business.


* Design and implement new products and solutions to improve performance, service and cost


* Define, design, develop and build out service catalog to improve service offerings


* Produce high level and detailed design documentation. Produce detailed engineering documentation and specifications for implementation.


* Participate in and develop requests for proposals, scope documents, and statements of work for projects.


* Assist in the DR planning of a multi-site virtualization and storage infrastructure along with DR planning for local sites where IT Infrastructure equipment is present


* Serve as a SME to diagnose and resolve problems on Windows and Linux servers, applications, databases, backup services, network services, cloud platforms and VMware alongside application owners and team members.


* Maintain an expert level of knowledge by maintaining current certifications, attending seminars and through other related activities


* Work with the IT Infrastructure team to ensure the quality of coordinated projects and business needs


* Work alongside internal team members, oversee consultants and act as liaison between IT staff and application owner to ensure project success


* Mentor and lead other team members as required to satisfy department goals


* Document related technical requirements. Quantify the impact of business and technical requirements on availability, performance, capacity, resiliency, and design.


* QUALIFICATIONS:



Required:

* 10+ years' experience of increasing complexity and responsibility in implementation, engineering, design, and architecture roles


* Experience leading the design, development and deployment of business software at scale or current hands on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience


* Expertise in information and integration architecture and technologies


* Proven ability to design, build and publish results of technology and Proof of Concepts


* Experience working with functional, development teams and technical teams to lead a matrix infrastructure organization


* Proficiency with design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and monitoring of core infrastructure including Server Hardware, VMWare, Networks, Storage, Windows and Linux


* Strong CLI and API scripting (Pearl, Python, Power Shell, Bash) and automation skills (Terraform, Puppet, CHEF, DSC, ARM, CloudFormation)


* Strong knowledge and implementation of configuration management (AWS System Manager, Azure Automation, Puppet, Chef or DSC)


* Experience developing automation solutions and working in a highly automated environment


* Experience in defining, designing and developing a service catalog to deliver Infrastructure services to the enterprise


* Familiarity with database technologies such as MySQL, MS SQL, NoSQL (Mongo) or PostgreSQL


* Monitoring and logging tools and strategies for management and troubleshooting of issues in a fast-paced environment


* Self-motivated and able to grasp new concepts quickly. Must be comfortable and confident in an ambiguous environment.


* Experience working in large enterprise networks


* Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills


* Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for composing and delivering technical presentations or other forms of documentation to various level of technical and non-technical management


* Ability to work with diverse project teams with members representing many segments and levels of the organization


* Migration of infrastructure, data and applications out of legacy data centers into cloud and hybrid environments (public and private)


* Demonstrable experience in architecting large-scale cloud projects beyond traditional IaaS with extensive experience in architecting and developing enterprise public cloud solutions


* Comfortable with being responsible for the delivery of significant cloud and automation projects


* Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent


* Graduate Degree in Computer Science or Engineering highly desired
