Job Purpose

National Grid is seeking an individual to use both technical and business expertise to develop solutions, given business requirements. This includes working closely with the teams which will be implementing your design. The platform is a distributed multi-cloud architecture, so factoring in security, scalability, and performance is key. The solutions will cross National Grid business units and be comprised of multiple vertical applicaitons.

Key Accountabilities

* Ensure the integrity of solution designs from concept through implementation, balancing the architectural concerns of projects with concerns of the enterprise.
* Lead the introduction of new technologies and methodologies to provide robust, supportable solutions.
* Provide consultation on the interpretation and application of the solution architecture, design, and implementation.
* Provide design-related services at the blueprinting level and other phases of development.
* Guide business stakeholders to solutions that maximize National Grid investment in technology.
* Provide thought leadership on innovative technical solutions to business stakeholders.
* Identify, own and support the delivery of global solutions for assigned projects.
* Communicate the solution architecture to all other relevant business functions.

Qualifications

* Degree-level qualifications in computer science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
* Relevant industry certification (e.g.TOGAF) desirable
* Minimum of 5 years of software development and/or support experience at an enterprise level. Familiarity with software development lifecycle management techniques with experience in product and vendor evaluation and technology rollout
* Knowledge of solution architectures including applying standard architectures and patterns within solution designs and various hosting environments/platforms
