Job Description

The Principal Architect independently provides specific systems consulting, systems analysis, resolves data integration issues for technical infrastructures of all complexities and overall leadership related to the acquisition and use of complex enterprise computing systems throughout MHS entities.

This individual possesses and maintains expert-level knowledge and specialized experience in areas of systems interoperability (interfacing), modern interface standards, web service architecture and storage technologies. This level of expertise is centered around the organization's strategic vision to support the increasing demands of health information exchange for quality care improvements in our communities.

The Principal Architect advises and leads the translation of business requirements and models into feasible and acceptable data designs using healthcare standard technologies where applicable. Consults with management and/or leads teams on the most complex/integrated technical MHS projects. This role will have specific responsibility for major EDI systems, HIE Integration, understanding of Epic custom code workflows, vital databases, design of iOS applications, management of the enterprise master patient index, integration with public APIs focusing on the design and maintenance needed to strategically design the technology solutions to support the MHS growth and health-care industry advancement.

They will be required to design and understand critical software interfaces and perform relevant analyses to aid in their optimization. Devise and revise a forward looking view of the software system architecture and set goals and priorities for the key components within that architecture. Serve as an intricate member of the IS Leadership team and a conduit amongst department leaders, staff, contractors, vendors, business sponsors and senior-level executives to ensure technology roadmaps are properly understood, executed and well-positioned for sustainment.

The position will play an instrumental role in designing and managing a mobile and needed enterprise technology solutions. The Principal Architect will assist in carrying out improvements and enhancements of existing mobile application services. Equally important is the ability to resolve system problems and recommend solutions to end users. The Principal Architect works under the direct supervision of the Director of Enterprise Development and Architecture.

* 7-10 years work experience, specifically developing specialized systems and architecture plans.
* Knowledge of database design, Microsoft SQL Server and Intersystem Cache, database schemas, data integrity methods and techniques, security principles, backups, high availability, mirroring and disaster recovery.
* EDI design experience using different architectures.
* Proven experience in systems, network, integration design and development.
* A Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices.
* A Solid grounding in core MemorialCare enterprise systems/applications, including Epic, Citrix, Windows NT, Cache, Sharepoint, Workfront and Access Express.
* In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including UNIX, Citrix, Virtualization (VMWare), etc.
* Hands on experience with developing interface programs, knowledge of ANSI/X12 or EDIFACT standard documents, mapping tools, XML, SQL and UNIX.
* Overall knowledge of the healthcare business environment, specifically related Medical Groups, IPAs, and Health Plans for Managed Care business workflows.
* High level experience with project management.
* Strong interpersonal skills in written and verbal communications with both technical and non-technical personnel are required.
* Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
* Exceptional understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
* Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required.
* Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
* Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
* Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
* Experience building distributed systems and web services
* History of ownership for a production service with 24/7 on-call support
* Excellent communication skills both written and oral
* Most comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Education:

Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.

Certification in Epic applications such as Bridges and Chronicles Programmer.
