Job Description

What Your Job Will Be Like

Our team has an opportunity for a motivated, high-performing technologist to support deposition related research and development activities critical to our mission of addressing challenging national security problems. Under the direction of staff, the successful candidate will support the development and low-volume fabrication of novel weapon subsystem components. The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will involve the safe and reliable maintenance/operation of our robotic paint system as well as support of any trouble shooting activities or studies required to refine the production process or final product. Daily activities will include:

* Preparing substrates and paint for deposition
* Operating/cleaning an industrial paint robot
* Visual inspection of our product
* Curing painted parts
* Capturing traveler data
* Maintaining air quality logs
* Managing the process waste stream
* Upholding inventory of all supplies consumed in the deposition process
* Other critical tasks related to this position will include:
* Robot programming for new samples or components
* Maintaining spray booth industrial hygiene
* Generating process documentation
* Executing test plans and studies supporting troubleshooting and development
* Manage labeling, packaging, and delivery of classified materials to support team deliverables



Qualifications We Require

* High school diploma plus three or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Demonstrated ability to work well within in a R&D environment with classified materials
* Ability to obtain a U.S. DOE/DOD Q security clearance



Qualifications We Desire

* Bachelor's or Associates degree in engineering (or related)
* Experience with CAD/3D modeling applications
* Experience in data acquisition
* Demonstrated ability to learn a computer programming language
* Experience in wet lab and spray booth work environments
* Experience with spray paint application
* Experience with ABB and/or Fanuc robot operations and programming software
* Experience with general machine shop practices
* Working knowledge of chemical handling, pressure systems, electricity
* Ability to troubleshoot paint application systems and identify/eliminate defects

Security Clearance

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
