Job Description

DEI has a new opportunity at Ft Belvoir. The ideal candidate will serves as the on-site Oracle System Engineer for the Mission Engineering Team of a DoD agency. The candidate will use their extensive knowledge of and experience with Oracle Database Administration to maintain an Enterprise Oracle deployment supporting the agency's mission critical systems. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing support, maintenance, security and planning for Oracle agency wide. The candidate will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuring, operating, and maintaining systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Establishes and maintains user accounts, assigns file permissions and establishes password and account policies
* Installs, upgrades, configures, tests, maintains and supports operating system software in a production/development environment.
* Plans and implements firmware, software and O/S upgrades.
* Researches, evaluates, and implements new technologies.
* Works with all IT managers to develop technology roadmaps showing how to move from current condition to future vision (Oracle, VMware, VERITAS Clustering Service, etc.).
* Continuously analyzes overall system performance and design improvements.
* Reviews performance logs and monitors system performance.
* Provides support to IT systems including: day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client problems.

BASIC REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Active Top Secret clearance (or higher)
* Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 14 years of professional experience; or a Master's degree with 12 years of professional experience
* Active Security + (Required prior to Start Date)
* Experience with Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC)
* Experience with managing oracle 11g in Linux Environments
* Experience with high availability and replication in an enterprise environment (Data Guard)
* Experience with creation and maintenance of database standards and policies
* Experience with RMAN backup and recovery
* Experience with Oracle Data Export and Import
* Experience with Oracle database installation, configuration, and deployment
* Experience with database security considerations and configuration
* Experience with script development
* Extensive knowledge of and experience with SQL
* Experience with mitigating DISA security accreditation on 10g, 11g
* Experience with query analysis and performance tuning
* Experience administering and supporting development, test, and production environments
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment serving in multiple roles on a daily basis
* Experience with database, network, and operating system monitoring, troubleshooting, analysis, and investigation
* Ability to provide problem identification, diagnosis and quick resolution of technical issues

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience with applying Oracle Patch Set Update (PSU)
* Experience with applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for Oracle Databases
* Expertise in OEM Cloud Control ( 12c)
* Expertise in RAC many nodes and Data Guard replication 12c
* Expertise in Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM)
* Solid background in performance tuning using OEM and Oracle performance views such as ASH tables
* Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and highly responsible in maintaining time critical projects schedule
* Effective verbal and written skills, including good presentation skills
