Position Overview

We are looking for a talented Oracle Database Administrator to help support and coordinate database activities at Logicworks. This position will implement effective policies and procedures for the management, protection, and efficient utilization of systems, data, and databases. This position will have a strong component of establishing and executing database migration to the cloud. Includes running scripts, installation, migration, monitoring, backup and recovery, tuning of database and underlying OS, helping to resolve complex client-related problems, and database related work orders in a timely manner. The DBA function is an integral position within the hosting industry. In our dynamic, fast-paced environment, the DBA is responsible for multiple client database installations.

The responsibilities will include:

* Perform day to day Oracle database administration in large, complex environments
* Provide solutions for new SQL migrations and syncs to the cloud
* Responsible for the overall performance, tuning, and backup/recovery of databases and optimization of underlying operating systems and hardware architectures for managed database service clients.
* Maintain database in high availability (HA) solutions to meet reliability and high client service level standards
* Implement proactive monitoring of performance and overall health of clients' environments
* Plan and implement database migrations in public cloud environments
* Install, configure and upgrade Oracle server software and related products
* Deploy highly available architectures using Oracle RAC
* Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours escalations, nights and weekends



Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in computer science, IT, engineering, or equivalent experience
* Five or more years of experience as both a database administrator AND a Linux administrator
* A high degree of self-management in area of tracking, time management, documentation and vendor / service management
* Plan and implement database migrations in public cloud environments
* Experience in planning and executing the migration of databases between different environments, especially public cloud environments
* Strong familiarity with database HA and DR solutions
* Experience in installing and administering database instances in design, development, test and production environment
* Experience with external storage arrays, fiber channel switches and HBA's, and SCSI raid storage devices
* Information security experience and strong understanding of security practices including data encryption
* Deep knowledge of ASM, Dataguard, advanced Replication, CRS & Oracle Grid
* Expertise with RMAN, ADDM/AWR & SQL profile
* Thorough understanding of Oracle's architecture
* High level of proficiency with SQL and Database Performance Tuning techniques
* Familiarity with Oracle Advanced Security Options, Streams, and data warehousing is a plus
* Experience in SQL software and client/server configuration in a Linux environment; in Oracle 11g and above
* Experience working with engineering teams in a fast-paced environment
* Motivated self-starter personality; must be able to work independently of supervision but be a willing and contributing participant on cross-functional team
* Public cloud experience (AWS and/or Azure) a plus

Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge of object-oriented programming or basic coding
* Familiar with Rubrik backup solution
* Knowledge of Azure database services
* Any Oracle Certifications would be a plus
