What You Will Do:

The Oracle DBA will be a critical member of a team of DBAs providing on-site client support weekdays between the hours of 6 am and 10 pm and on demand. The candidate is expected to perform troubleshooting, administration, monitoring, tuning, and operations functions on Oracle Enterprise databases for mission critical applications for a federal government agency. Must be able to understand advanced database technology concepts at a detailed level, ask the right questions, and work well with vendors, SME's, engineers, management and customers. Excellent communication skills are important including an ability to explain complex database concepts to all levels of system users and management.

Job Duties:

* Provide installation, monitoring, patching, and database administration operations and maintenance services for Oracle Database, Oracle Advanced Security (ASO), Oracle RMAN, Oracle RAC, and Oracle Data Guard in Windows NT, UNIX, and Linux environments.
* Diagnose problems with Oracle products using the Oracle Enterprise Manager.
* Setup and manage Oracle Failsafe and RAC.
* Support the development of applications and the migration of legacy databases into Oracle.
* Write scripts, triggers, and stored procedures.
* Create and maintain replication tables, perform subscription materialization, define data server functions, establish replication functions, maintain routes, maintain and manage database connections, handle errors and exceptions, recover databases, and reconcile database inconsistencies.
* Analyze and support the installation and configuration of new Oracle versions.
* Work in a fast-paced operations and development environment.

Desired Skills:

* 7+ years of professional experience in Oracle Database Administration.
* Experience in mission critical, high availability, high reliability environments.
* Extensive SQL and PL/SQL experience required
* Experience migrating SQL from Sybase to Oracle
* SQL Tuning (especially within Oracle applications), SQL traces, SQLLDR Oracle Application utilities
* Experience with JAVA
* OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) for monitoring and performance tuning
* Experience with GoldenGate
* Strong knowledge of triggers, stored procedures, third party tools, and transaction monitoring

Additional Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in computer related studies or equivalent.
* Oracle Certified Professional, other relevant industry certifications a plus.
