Responsibilities
The Operations Producer has one foot in the technical world and the other in the editorial world.
On the technical side, he\\she is responsible for the technical infrastructure of NNS, hardware and software, as well as the Media Desk (Satellite Desk). The infrastructure includes PCs, broadcast equipment, telco, video, and data lines, non-linear video recording and editing systems (like SSL Gravity), and story management software (ENPS). The Operations Producer is also responsible for managing relationships with IT and broadcast system managers at our Partner networks, and how NNS systems integrate with the Partner systems. The Operations Producer works with the General Manager on Operating and Capital budgets, and oversight and reconciliation of Transmission costs incurred by NNS with the Partner networks and outside vendors.
On the news editorial side, the Operations Producer is responsible for helping plan and shape coverage of major ongoing news events, such as campaign and election coverage. He\\she must have an understanding of affiliate news gathering and be able to play a role as Lead Producer as necessary, working with networks and affiliates on routine and breaking news coverage.
