Responsibilities
The NOC On-Air Operations Manager is an integral member of Network Origination Center (NOC) On-Air team, which is responsible for the origination and distribution of 25 NBCU Cable brands and over 72 distribution channels. This Operations Manager will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring the on-air reliability of all the National and Regional Sports networks.
The individual in this role will have to partner with the engineering and automation teams to drive operational improvements, and will also be responsible for maintaining the On-air training matrices and all operational SOPs.
Job Duties:
* Work with technical staff to satisfy production needs determined by show producers and directors
* Supervise and direct the on-air technical staff throughout broadcasts, including Master Control Operators, Technical Managers, On-Air schedulers, & Program Operations Managers.
* Represent the NOC on a 24x7 basis to both internal and external clients & business partners
* Ensure availability & quality assurance of all scheduled on-air events including: live control points, programming, incoming remote transmissions, graphics, and digital video effects
* Plan Live events for National and Regional Sports channel and create Live event SOPs and operational guidelines
* Partner with engineering to test all critical on-air systems
* Coordinate transmission feeds from fiber and satellite vendors
* Troubleshoot issues (process & system), identify root causes, and proactively implement sustainable corrective actions
* Off-hours support may be necessary to address outages or pressing system issues
* Manage On-Air project execution and issue tracking
* Support nights and weekend live events
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
5 yrs experience in an on-air broadcast environment with a strong understanding of the television & distribution process
3 yrs experience in a management or leadership role requiring troubleshooting and communication skills, & exhibiting an ability to effectively lead, prioritize and adapt to changing scenarios.
3+ yrs work experience showing strong computer, communication, and facilitation skills
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations

Desired Characteristics
BA/BS degree - concentration in communications, telecommunications, computer science, or electrical engineering preferred
5 yrs experience in a live production environment with Master Control &/or transmission experience preferred.
3 yrs experience in leading execution of live television events
Experience in executing off air scenarios for live events, including approx. starts, schedule slides, join in progress, & leave in progress
Technical experience with Automated real time systems, Snell automation experience required
Ability to troubleshoot technical & operational issues effectively & efficiently
Experience with commercial traffic and facility scheduling operations
Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Strong change management skills with innovative mindset
Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
