JOB DESCRIPTION

Assists the Network Infrastructure Manager, Network Engineers, Service Desk Team, and remote site System Administrators with network connectivity problem solving and implementing various network and security related projects.

JOB SUMMARY

A member of the corporate office staff whom works closely with remote sites to ensure network connectivity, implement changes, and troubleshoot problems. This position is responsible for managing assigned projects, monitor network uptime, manage assigned vendor projects, manage service desk cases, and assist remote locations with networking related requests. Additionally, the position will be required to assist other Information Technology department tasks as well as company assigned tasks. This position does require periodic travel, regular office hour work, and some weekend work as well as periodic out of regular business hours work. Out of regular work hours adjustments are made to balance the work schedule. Network engineers participate in an on-call weekend rotation.

ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS

This position reports to Network Infrastructure Manager and works closely with all Information Technology and Development staff in addition to other corporate departments, remote locations and vendors.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible for preventative maintenance on the Corporate, Data Center, Remote Site, Vendor and Guest networks.
* Responsible for assigned PCI (Payment Card Industry) assigned daily, weekly, monthly and annual tasks.
* Performs technology needs analysis; assists in maintaining accurate IT inventories and network diagrams.
* Assists or leads in project quote development.
* Actively manages and utilizes monitoring systems to identify network problems quickly.
* Rolls out network hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of resources.
* Updates network devices on periodic maintenance schedules.
* Works closely with other IT department groups to address network support requests.
* Works closely with vendors on projects.
* Troubleshoots networking problems as needed.
* Manages a service desk case load.
* Assists with technology planning through ongoing research.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Diploma in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Business Administration; supplemented with one or more courses in current technology. Certifications in a current networking technology is required.

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer is required Cisco Network Certification Professional is a Nice to Have

Experience

A minimum of 4 years working on a service desk or network operations role in a corporate environment with exposure to servers, desktop systems, networking tools, and phone systems.

Skills:

* Demonstrated knowledge of Windows server operating systems and desktop products.
* Certification(s) and experience with Cisco networking equipment - Catalyst switches, ISR routers, and ASA firewalls. Must be familiar with configuring devices via command line / SSH.
* Demonstrated knowledge of L2 concepts such as VLANs, Trunking, Spanning Tree, etc.
* Experience with networking monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco Umbrella, OpenDNS, etc.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DNS layer security, Group Policy Objects, Powershell / scripting tools.
* Demonstrated ability to quickly troubleshoot switching, routing (EIGRP, BGP), firewall ACLs, bandwidth issues and PC problems.
* Understanding of VMware concepts and virtualized server environments.
* Demonstrated ability to support networked printers and multi-function machines.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
* Strong ability to prioritize, troubleshoot, and perform assessments over the phone.
* Facilitation and change management skills.
* Highly developed verbal and written communications skills.
