We have an opening for a Network Systems Engineer on the Argus Product Development team to support the Security and Protection (S&P) Program within the Security Organization (SO).

The S&P Program is responsible for managing the evaluation, system development, and operations support of the Argus security system. You will utilize a wide range of skills and competencies to lead the integration of IT technologies into the Argus product. This position is in the Information Technology Operations (ITO) Division, matrixed to the Security Organization, Security and Protection Program.

This position will be filled at either the 393.1 or 393.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected to the higher level.

Essential Duties

* Provide advanced level knowledge and implementation of networks and network services including applications relating to network technologies.
* Facilitate Argus development operations by understanding the Argus system and maintaining, administering and troubleshooting network operations on a day-to-day basis.
* Evolve the program's development and test networks to the standard network
* Document the network topology and establish controls around the isolation of the program's development and test networks (IP schemes, VLANs, routing, DNS, WINS, DHCP, IPSEC, etc)
* Evaluate and deploy supplemental networking tools for system monitoring and disaster recovery situations to promote business continuity.
* Patch and maintain secure and efficient network component configurations.
* Interact with vendors to evaluate network products and services.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

In Addition at the 393.2 Level

* Collaborate with customers and sponsors in the network design process.
* Diagnose and resolve complex Argus IT and network system problems.
* Develop complex network security monitoring and management dashboard solutions.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or the equivalent combination of technical training and related experience
* Extensive experience in network system design, configuration, implementation, documentation, and operations.
* Broad and in-depth knowledge of network routing and VLANs.
* Linux and Windows operating system experience and/or certification for current versions.
* Broad and in-depth knowledge of firewall configuration and maintenance.
* Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or Cisco Certified Network Professional Certifications (CCNP).
* Proficient interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to work independently and interact with customers and team members.

In Addition at the 393.2 Level

* Substantial experience troubleshooting network capacity and performance problems.
* Highly advanced knowledge of and substantial technical experience in Cyber Security compliance (Tenable, STIGs) with the expertise to advise and recommend a security posture for software and application deployment.
* Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Certification.

Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) L-level or Q-level clearance or an active Secret or Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire.

Note: This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
