Join us and take responsibility for supporting and solving issues in our IT lab and production network infrastructure! This will include data centers, local & wide area networks, switching, routing, network/security/firewalls, remote access monitoring & diagnostics and client/server issues communicating with production services. This is an engineering and career mentorship role position.

What will you do?

Engineering & Analysis: (60%)

* Design and implement advanced configurations of network gear including switches, routers, firewalls
* Execute advanced processes to monitor and maintain systems
* Provide mentorship, help address tier-two operational issues as they arise (incident management)
* Independently address advanced operational issues
* Communicate with impacted users through-out the troubleshooting/remediation process as needed
* Assist in preserving service level agreements with other team members and vendors which supply equipment for our IT services
* Assist with all system project aspects as they may pertain to networking
* Prepare documentation and maintenance of related policies and procedures
* Maintain daily activity, task assignments and system status information for basic reporting processes
* Help contribute to the general infrastructure's health and readiness to serve the company

Production support: (40%)

* Assist in tier-two and tier-three troubleshooting, remediate or advance to tier-two network support
* Attend meetings to discuss system projects
* Assist in documentation of new deployments or changes to deployments
* Apply documentation standards to all written materials
* Participate in on-call rotations for both F5 Services and as a Network Engineer on call
* Incident Management
* Configuration of new network gear
* Drive the continued technical and soft skill development of Network Engineer I and II partners
* Assume the Subject Matter Expert role in project meetings
* Dedicatedly ensure ongoing communication with participants and partners
* Assume leadership role in product selection for replacement or new technology
* Help negotiate with vendor agreements, contracts on behalf of F5 Networks
* Manage vendor relationships to ensure agreements are met and helpful to us

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Provide an understanding of highly available network solutions
* Deep understanding of F5 Product placement and application
* Solid grasp of the OSI networking model, especially troubleshooting of OSI model layers 1-4
* Spanning Tree Protocol
* Routing Protocols (OSPF, BGP)
* Experience with commercial cloud provider environments and hybrid cloud connectivity
* Experience deploying and fixing IPv6 issues
* Hands on experience with automated configuration management and deployment of network devices (i.e. ZTP, Ansible, etc.)
* Experience configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Cisco Nexus/NX-OS
* Experience with F5 BIG-IP platform
* Show us how you work under stress

* Proven ability to understand business problems and networking solutions
* Effective time management and ability to organize and prioritize tasks
* Experienced written & verbal communications, planning, & documentation

Qualifications

* Hold a BA/BS in any computer science, or commensurate career experience required
* 5+ years experience in an IT department or NOC with a dedicated network team
* Current certifications in networking technology any current manufacturer of networking equipment desired

Physical Demands and Work Environment

* Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
* Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
* Duties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). We might ask you to travel via automobile or airplane, with approximately 5% of the time spent traveling.
* Job may be performed on-site at a customer facility or data center, or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table.
