Job Description

Responsible for the planning, network design and capacity planning for all ZTE BSC, PDSN, AAA & OMC network components. • Responsible for the planning, network design and capacity planning for all datacenter network components including core routers & switches, firewalls, intrusion protection, load balancing and traffic shaping. • Responsible for the planning, network design and capacity planning for all VOIP network components including the call manager, session border controller and ISDN and SIP trunking. • Develop voice and data network elements and interconnection standards for QOS, survivability/redundancy, latency and spare capacity. • Evaluate and recommend vendors for above network elements. • Conduct research projects to improve and standardize the design process used by the entire department. Interact with network performance, site construction, and real estate departments to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of network design practices. • Conduct network redundancy and capacity models development, documentation, simulation and testing of the network architecture and design. • Perform load and failure analysis studies including failover to hot-standby components. • Conducting data analysis of switch statistics and forecast usage data. • Interface with vendors and regions to facilitate technical implementations. • Budget for regional CAPEX & OPEX requirements. • Develop Method Of Procedures (MOPs) for network implementations and changes. • Provide third level assistance during network outages.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field required. Advanced degree preferred. • 7+ years in telecommunications industry (3+ years in wireless). • 5+ years experience in network design, planning and integration. • Knowledge in process flow methodology, business analysis & traffic modeling capability, network design and transmission systems. • Knowledge BSC, PDSN, AAA & OMC technologies (preferably with ZTE). • Advanced understanding of Cisco routers & switches, firewalls, intrusion protection, load balancing and traffic shaping. • Advanced understanding of VOIP network components including call manager, SBC and ISDN/SIP trunking. • Strong communication skills including technical documentation, written reports and proposals, development and delivery of presentations and the ability to listen to and communicate effectively with customers and vendors.
