Job Description

The Network Engineer II provides technical expertise for the successful design and implementation to support LAN, Wireless LAN and WAN strategies to meet the business needs of the System. Designs and plans the implementation, optimization and operation of LAN, Wireless LAN and WAN systems at remote and core locations and investigates methods to improve efficiencies.

WHAT IS EXPECTED (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Works with management to determine LAN, Wireless LAN, WAN and Telecom business needs and implements effective enterprise-wide network strategies.

Designs complex network configurations to maximize the sharing of applications, information and resources across the company.

Coordinates with vendors/departments to procure hardware, software and services and obtain their assistance to achieve timely completion of projects.

Manages the LAN, Wireless LAN and WAN Telecommunications network to ensure effective use of the installed technology. Investigates and resolves problems, inefficiencies and enhances network performance.

Provides strategic planning and technical support to determine LAN, Wireless LAN, WAN and Telecom business needs throughout the company. Evaluates, tests, recommends, and implements specific network solutions.

Creates and maintains network documentation and performance growth and planning needs. Plans, manages and provides leadership on project teams, including the identification of the project scope and objectives and managing the process for timely project completion.

Researches new technologies to improve efficiencies with technology. Performs business case studies to justify the need for technology. Provides ongoing information to management, peers and customers regarding enhancements and innovations. Designs, engineers and manages complex system related communication and routing protocols.

May direct the activities of other technical staff, proving training as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Project management, analysis, processing skills preferred

Excellent communication skills, both orally and written

Strong analytical abilities, customer service experience

Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

MS Office Advanced skill set

License and Certifications:

For Network and Telecommunications:

Platform specific database and administration advanced certifications for router, switch, gateway, contact center, messaging and voice portal solutions.

Platform specific design and engineering advanced certification for router, switch, gateway, contact center, messaging and voice portal solutions.

Intermediate to Advanced Routing and Switching, Dial Plan Design and IP Peer Networking Firewall and Load Balancing Intermediate

TCP/IP Intermediate to advanced CCNA (Voice, Routing and Switching, Wireless, Security, Collaboration) PMP Certification preferred
