Network Engineer
Key Role:
Work as part of a dynamic team supporting the national capital region's integrated air defense system. Lead the design, integration, administration, and maintenance of a variety of network devices and supporting infrastructure, support and maintain multiple Cisco-based networks, perform network engineering recommending best practice solutions for routing and switching for backbone services, tunneling, EIGRP, multicast, security and network monitoring and management with SolarWinds and Splunk, and manage installation, maintenance, and upgrades of network hardware, software and infrastructure on multiple sites across the capital region. Liaise between stakeholders and clients to support project completion and coordinate maintenance activities and perform Cyber network hardening through implementing and maintaining of RMF and STIG compliance. Monitor and analyze system logs, perform troubleshooting, as needed, participate in evaluating vendor specifications and securing quotations for hardware and software purchases, and manage infrastructure and maintenance projects to completion. Perform networking activities to meet system requirements for availability and functionality, analyze network activity and performance to identify potential network issues or inefficiencies, and develop and implement corrective actions. This position may require occasional travel within the United States from a primary work location of the Washington, DC area.
Basic Qualifications:
* 5+ years of experience with maintaining, administering, and troubleshooting Cisco network devices and operating systems in mission critical production environments
* 5+ years of experience with system enterprise network architectures and topologies, the design, research, development, and implementation of network solutions, and the resolution of networking issues
* Ability to troubleshoot and analyze Cisco configurations to solve technical complex issues, offer alternative solutions, and make timely, logical decisions for problem resolution
* Ability to work as part of team maintaining multiple systems
* Secret clearance
* BA or BS degree
* DoD 8570 Level II Certification, including CompTIA Security+
Additional Qualifications:
* Experience with RMF and STIGs
* Experience with Linux OS, Splunk, SolarWinds, and Network Monitoring tools
* Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification
* Cisco Network Certifications, including CCNP preferred
