POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the oversight, coordination, and improvement of network and telecommunication services at Brandman University. Supports existing network and telecommunication services, implements new enhancements and installations, as well as to identifies budgetary requirements. This position supports Brandman University campuses and locations across California, Oregon, and Washington. Perform all duties in accordance with the University's policies and procedures, all US state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the University operates.

TYPE OF SUPERVISION:

Receive general supervision from the Director, Cloud Infrastructure.

General Supervision - indicates that the incumbent develops procedures for performance of variety of duties; or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Percentage

* Maintain, update, and replace networking and phone systems equipment.
* Install, upgrade, troubleshoot, and diagnose networking and phone system-related issues.
* Manage environmental controls and power management in data rooms.
* Manage third party vendors, as required.

* Oversee and manage the Network and Communication Analyst.
* Handle escalated network and telecommunication-related tickets and document resolutions.

* Develop project plans and lead network and telecommunication-related projects to successful completion.
* Continuously assess documented processes for improvements.

* Document budgetary requirements, solution methodologies, and common practices.
* Maintain documentation and diagramming of Brandman's networking and communications environment.
* Provide documentation, training resources, and training for internal and external audiences.

* Travel to different Brandman locations throughout California, Oregon, and Washington; stay overnight, as needed, for multi-day support needs.

* Perform other duties, as assigned.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

* Knowledge of network and infrastructure design
* Knowledge of operations with complex-routed IP networks, layer two/three switches, advanced routers, firewalls, LAN/WAN networking hardware, and protocols
* Knowledge of configuration management and operation of Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless networking
* Working knowledge of IP data networking knowledge and advanced troubleshooting
* Knowledge of networking and phone services in a higher-education setting, preferred
* Strong interpersonal skills to efficiently work with various individuals at all organizational levels
* Excellent problem-solving and judgment skills to evaluate situations and provide effective solutions
* Skilled in effectively communicating through various types of communication including email, phone, etc.
* Ability to create and understand network diagrams and how they relate to network and telecommunication needs
* Ability to effectively plan, assign, and supervise the work of others
* Ability to keep informed related industry trends and ensure implementation of best practices
* Ability to work with team members to provide customers an excellent experience
* Ability to travel by car and airplane in support of multiple campuses and locations across California, Oregon, and Washington
* Ability to stay overnight for trips that require multiple days of support, as needed

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computing or related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience
* Three (3) to five (5) years of experience including a combination of:
* Providing direct support of network and phone systems including in wireless networking, networking security, and working with telecommunications providers
* Leading projects and project management, working with cross-functional teams to collaboratively complete tasks, managing resources, and delivering results within target timelines
* At least one (1) year of experience:
* Supervising technical staff and the work of third-party vendors
* Working with Public cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
* Working with IP telephony systems, Cisco, and Meraki network equipment
* Familiarity with SDWAN, preferred
* Technical Certifications (Examples: CCNA, RHCE, MCSE, CCNP, CCIE), preferred
* A valid Driver's license, insurance, and reliable transportation
