Job Description

Headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, Wedbush Securities is one of the largest full-service securities firms in the nation. Our IT department is seeking an SQL Server DBA to monitor and maintain the enterprise database environment. This is a highly technical and hands-on role responsible for Release Management and Database Administration in a large scale SQL Server 2008 environment. This position reports to the Manager of Infrastructure and requires 24/7 availability to provide support as needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* On-call support for a 24/7 environment consisting of batch processing workloads, analytics workloads, and transactional workloads


* Maintain, test, and implement disaster recovery infrastructure for SQL Server


* Troubleshoot and resolve failed SQL agent jobs and SQL Server internals issues


* Tune queries, deploy indices, and provide recommendations to development on performance tuning techniques


* Install and configure new SQL Server instances


* Implement SQL Server configurations based on strategic plans and designs from senior IT personnel


* Document the SQL Server environment as it changes


* Deploy database changes to production and UAT environments after peer review, QA, and user acceptance


* Design and develop monitoring utilities to proactively alert IT of SQL Server issues



Experience and Skills

* Minimum 2-3 year experience as SQL Server DBA in a large scale environment


* Experience working with very large databases and datasets


* Expert administrative knowledge of SQL Server 2008 R2


* Knowledge of SDLC and experience in release and deployment management


* Strong T-SQL skills, review T-SQL code and procedures


* Strong process and procedures knowledge


* Organized individual with great communication skills


* Ability to work independently and being proactive


* Strong analytical skills and service minded


* Experience with other programming languages such as C#, ASP, .NET, Power Shell a strong plus


* Financial Services industry experience strong plus


* Ability to denormalize data
