Xator is seeking an experienced, motivated Mid-Level Application Java Developer to support a USDA-Forest Service contract based in Boise, ID. Established in 1905, the Forest Service (FS) is a federal agency that manages public lands in national forests and grasslands under a founding principle, "To provide the greatest amount of good for the greatest amount of people in the long run". The agency's mission is to "sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the Nation's forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations".

The Fire and Aviation Management (FAM) applications are used to collect, maintain and disseminate fire, weather incident and all hazard data (current and historical) in support of fire operations, budget development, fire resource planning, firefighter safety, public affairs information dissemination and public and private research and development. FAM applications directly support the FS mission by collecting, maintaining and providing access to current and historical fire and weather data.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

* Experience working remotely and working with remote customers.
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
* Ability to edit, rewrite and polish draft documentation
* Proficient in the entire MS Office Suite
* Attention to detail, accuracy, quality assurance, and on-time delivery
* Ability to acquire and maintain VA credentials
* Highly skilled at debugging and resolving issues in existing Java based systems



JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

* At least 4 years' relevant experience for this job category
* Minimum of 4 years of experience providing JAVA based applications
* US Citizenship
* Proficient at coding in HTML, JavaScript, and related technologies
* Proficient at coding using Angular 4 or above
* Working knowledge of Eclipse based IDE's and SVN
* Strong knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring Security, Restful Services, Controllers
* Strong knowledge of JPA, ORM, Hibernate
* Strong knowledge of JWT - JSON Web Tokens, Token based security
* Strong knowledge of Java Messaging Service, Active MQ, Oracle/Postgres databases
* Confident knowledge of XML, JSON, SQL, CSS, Java 6 or above
* Familiar with Jasper Reports, Tomcat/J2EE Server
* Familiar with caching, threading, synchronization concepts
* Familiar with UNIX/LINUX and Windows systems
* Ability to be available evenings and weekends for On Call/Tier 3 Support

EDUCATION:

* Bachelor's degree or recent equivalent experience, with a major in a field that provides substantial knowledge useful for managing IT requirements. Four years of experience can be used in lieu of degree.
