As Manager of the Microservices Platform Team, you will work as an integral part of our Cloud Platform to enable exciting new features for all of our connected audio products. The ideal candidate has extensive virtualized computing experience, and has previously managed within modern cloud systems in a fast-paced, agile environment. Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Microservices Platform at Bose is a Kubernetes-based environment that manages code hosting in containers, service level provisioning, API and microservice traffic routing, internal messaging, network security, storage management, database management, platform operations, and much more. The Microservices Platform Team Manager will lead an engineering team to support our cloud-connected consumer audio products, and to evolve the platform to meet the needs of future generations of products. Manage a first sub-team that focuses on foundational technologies like AWS-based infrastructure (EC2, VPC, DNS, SSL) Manage a second sub-team that is building a next-generation Kubernetes microservices platform Manage a third sub-team that delivers a set of cloud-scale databases as a service to developers Manage a fourth sub-team that is defining session management and caching for microservice developers Organize a fifth sub-team that will manage 24/7 operations and engagement for internal customers Define KPIs and SLOs for the Microservices Platform and deliver clear reporting on operations Ensure consistent software development practices across all sub-teams, building of backlogs, prioritization of work items, setting expectations with customers, and delivery on commitments Own a set of vendor relationships for critical technologies Stay up-to-date on relevant technologies, plug into user groups, understand trends and opportunities to ensure we are using the best possible technologies Report to senior managers and evangelize to various company departments Qualifications (demonstrated competence) Deep knowledge of networking and Internet technologies Experience with containers and microservice architectures Understanding of computer system vulnerabilities and best practices for secure computing environments Familiar with dynamic server coding environments such as Python, Go, and Node.js Code development in an Agile environment Experience 12+ years in software development 3+ years managing a small team of software developers 2+ years working in a cloud environment Undergraduate degree in computer science or equivalent Masters degree in technology preferred Bose is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity.
