Position Summary:

The engineer researches, designs, and develops software control systems in support of power sub-systems. The selected candidate will lead in the creation of the software architecture for the next generation platform of new power product control systems.

Standardize the software development process to meet the delivery, quality, and cost of software
Monitor quality of the software development outcomes and continue to improve the process
Discover and derive system and sub-system requirements

Roles and Responibilities:

Understand and apply software process within the global organization
Leads the research and development of new software products and applications on the leading edge of established knowledge and standards.
Conceives, designs, prototypes, and tests new methods, algorithms, and models.
Defines architecture requirements and performance standards to meet or exceed management and customer specifications.
Identifies and directs resolution of complex hardware/software interface issues.

Understand different development methodologies and apply to projects
Participate in process tailoring, review, and inspection activities of software development tasks
Collect data required to measure software indicators.

Essential Duties:

Ability to learn complex software solutions that support control systems
Apply technical expertise in decision-making and resolution of highly complex and
Provide engineering skills required for building and testing the system environment for break/fix solutions for escalated issues
Advises hardware engineers on power design characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements.
Identify reuse opportunities and owns definition of interfaces and Architecture for generic reusable components required across multiple development teams
Exercise regular and clear communications with our clients to establish, maintain, and solidify a lasting relationship
Identify opportunities, issues, and perform risk management, including appropriate mitigation
Closely collaborate and work both horizonally and vertically within the organization
Think strategicall and participate in growing our company beyond the 'what is' into the realm of 'what can be'

Skills:

5+ years of experience and high level of proficiency in the following areas:

Experience with embedded Systems on a Chip, especially the ARM Cortex architecture
Expert knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in SoC embedded SW architecture including FPGA programmable logic controls systems design, coding, signal processing, real time OS (Linux, FreeRTOS etc), Xilinx SDK tools, security, and change management.
Experience using software debugging tools to view and program processor registers.
Highly proficient in the C/C++ programming language
Embedded software development and debug experience in an RTOS
Technical writing skills for creating application notes, white papers, and user's guides/reference manuals
Work with marketing, design, test, and application teams to write and develop system and sub-system requirements.
Knowledge of secure software coding and design.

Develop unit, sub-system, and system test plans
Highly professional; communicate to all business levels
Ability to travel

Experience:

At least 3 years of real-time embedded software design.
Working knowledge with C/C++ required
Experience in designing and analyzing industrial controls /automation systems a plus

Education:

BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering required; MS preferred

Position can be located in Ft. Collins, CO, Denver, Co or Milpitas, CO
