Job Description

We are looking for a Software System Services Development Engineering Manager to join our dynamic team in the research, design and development of computer software systems for state of the art In Flight Entertainment and Connectivity systems.

Become a critical team leader in our New Architecture initiative, developing system services that will run inside an aircraft, as well as through various information pipes to ground data centers and AWS with a goal of seamless, multi-directional transport of data, messages and events from anywhere in the world where our systems operate.

This will require a highly adaptable individual that is comfortable leading a team in multiple technology stacks and operating environments. This role will also work closely with the architecture team as new services are designed and developed to be easily consumed, and leverage test automation to ensure services are easily verifiable.

As a steward for our global services, work in a collaborative manner with all involved stake holders to ensure we drive adoption of new services as quickly as possible.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

* Manages and directs activities for development and support of new and existing services, across multiple
* Interfaces with stake holders to create development plans to support service and product
* Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and customer needs to plan, organize and coordinate
* Administers personnel functions, including recruiting, selection and placement of
* Sets clear goals and continuously manages performance and growth of
* Provides technical leadership and vision to build best in class software engineering
* Manages software lifecycle of owned software in the
* Applies qualitative methods for continuous improvements of development processes to achieve peak
* Provides technical leadership to build cutting edge software, and to foster a culture

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

* Expertise in determining scope, approach, schedules to accomplish overall objectives and
* Mastery of software development processes at various phases including best in class industry practices for methods and tools such as test driven development, continuous integration, scrum and
* Ability to communicate effectively and to work seamlessly with cross-functional organizations and
* Ability to direct and coordinate staff in developing solutions to technical
* Ability to inspire and motivate teams, and to provide vision and forward-looking.
* Detailed planning and problem solving/critical thinking skills to ensure the timely completion of multiple, complex.
* Strong technical understanding of Linux based systems which will include system services and embedded client/server.
* Knowledge of AWS (or other cloud/private cloud) infrastructure, as developed system services will eventually be deployed and supported on AWS for end-to-end

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

* B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems. Advanced degree preferred.
* Minimum 10 years of related work experience in software development and
* Minimum 3 years experience in software engineering management / project leadership
