Job Description

The Atlantic has, for more than 160 years, advanced ideas that matter and sparked global conversation on the most important issues of our time. We aim to bring clarity and original thinking to questions of consequence, on topics ranging from politics, the economy, and global affairs to technology, science, and culture. As the third-longest-running magazine in America, we find ourselves at a remarkable moment: one of both continuation and transformation, of upholding our legacy while continuously reinventing ourselves for the future.

We strongly believe that quality matters in everything that we do, and we're looking for a passionate, thoughtful, and effective leader to build a team that focuses on exactly that. The Quality Engineering team will integrate closely with all of our engineering teams to ensure quality from ideation, through development, and ultimately delivery within our Agile product development process.

Requirements:

* 5+ years in Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering
* 1+ years as a manager or team lead
* Experience with automation tools frameworks such as Selenium WebDriver, SoapUI, JMeter
* We build our applications in Python and Javascript (increasingly ReactJS), so any familiarity there is a plus.
* A proven track record in architecting, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable test automation solutions.
* Excellent communication skills and a strong desire to drive consistent improvement.
* The ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently in a growing, rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities:

* Build, develop, and grow The Atlantic's Quality Engineering team - from the ground up.
* Design and implement an automated testing plan that focuses on the highest value and iteratively increases our level of confidence in rapid deployments.
* Act as a player-coach to demonstrate and scale best practices within the Quality Engineering team, and across all of our Engineering teams.
* Define key KPIs and metrics for quality across teams.
* Work closely with other leaders in Engineering and Product to ensure alignment and focus on the highest priority needs.

Across Atlantic Media, generally, the firm looks for two "pillar gifts" in you, and everyone else. In all of us, these are more aspirational than actual, but they are central in our intentions:

* Force of Intellect - a discipline and rigor of thought as manifested, often, in remarkable academic performance and, later, success in a professional environment.
* Spirit of Generosity - a natural disposition towards service and selfless conduct.
