Job Description

Position SummaryManage New York University's data network infrastructure and its network engineering staff including the design, maintenance, configuration, and implementation of network upgrades and development of network services. Administrative tasks will include personnel and project management, representing network engineering at meetings, planning activities, and evaluating and purchasing technical products and services. Technical tasks will include equipment installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades; installation and configuration of software; developing scripts and programs to automate network management tasks; and authoring documentation. Qualifications Required Education:Bachelor's degree Preferred Education:Graduate degree in Computer Science. Required Experience:7 years relevant experience in an advanced network technology environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Experience:Experience managing both full-time employee and contractor IT professionals in a Higher Education environment. Experience in supporting a multi-site Global WAN using both public and private connectivity. Experience managing large-scale, cross-discipline projects involving network design and build out of cabling plants for new buildings or datacenter facilities. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Extensive knowledge of enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls & wireless access points, Extensive knowledge of network protocols and services, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, & OSPF, Extensive knowledge of how Windows, MacOS X, and Unix/Linux operate in a large (>10,000 node) networked environment. Excellent verbal, analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience. Ability to supervise staff. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Specific knowledge of Cisco and F5 network infrastructure equipment. Specific knowledge of Cisco Prime/CIscoWorks LMS, Cisco Prime Infrastructure/NCS/WCS, Cisco Network Analysis Module, InterMapper, Torrus, RANCID, NfSen/Nfdump and other network management tools.
