The Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Manager, IT Newbuild Technology who will help support all new builds across HA Group.

The Holland America Group includes Holland America Line and Seabourn (both headquartered in Seattle, Washington), Princess Cruise Lines (headquartered in Santa Clarita, California), and P&O Australia (headquartered in Sydney). The Holland America Group operates a combined total of 41 cruise ships with over 36,000 employees worldwide. This position will be located in our Santa Clarita, CA offices.

Responsibilities

The Manager of IT Newbuild Technology is responsible for overseeing and managing various components within the broader HA Group Fleet IT New Build team, this includes but not limited to the following:

* Manage all communication with shipbuilder and Carnival Cruise Shipbuilding regarding all IT aspects. Example items include power, HVAC, rack layouts, endpoint placement, sea trial preparation, owner supply items, project schedule, and sign-off/acceptance
* Review all Corporate IT standards or new business requests and evaluate feasibility to ratify based on existing ship specifications, or to add and include within any future conceptual new build contracts
* Negotiate with shipbuilder and sub-contractors regarding any modifications or commercial terms which are part of yard supply, followed by financial overviews of modifications for senior leadership review and approval
* Develop modification requests for submission to shipbuilder
* Review and accept/modify any shipbuilder provided documentation such as one line diagrams
* Ownership of the ship General Arrangement plan from an IT vantage, with responsibility for the cabling specification and end point positioning. Work with OneIT architects and engineering teams to review design and placement for best functionality
* Vendor relationship management with vendors, ship yard, or integrators
* Responsible for reviewing test memorandums and process improvement for sign off and acceptance from yard supply components
* Manage yard project schedule and IT Owner Supply schedule. Communicate to broader stakeholder's expectation and overall plan
* Lead team based at ship yard site for ensuring quality assurance and data reporting to be used with senior management
* Develop project plan and work with IT Project Manager on a combined plan for delivery. Track milestones and provide regular reports and steering updates to senior leadership and management on progress
* Technical subject matter expert to help make decisions in terms of infrastructure changes cognitive of specification implication, cost implication, and risk
* Produce reports on MDF, IDF, Cabling, HVAC progress and make recommendations to broader team on viability to start installing production equipment
* Manage GFR's and warranty claims raised with the shipbuilder after delivery and keep track of open defects during production/pre-delivery
* Liaise with HA Group Fleet IT Shipboard Applications on new build deployments, best practices, and operations
* Liaise with ABG IT on Fleet Standards and new initiatives to be included in scope for new builds
* Coordinate relationship with yard supply vendors and owner IT personnel for setup. This includes items such as VDR, SMCS, LES, and other deck/engine systems
* Participate in staging/FAT to review components from a layer 1 standpoint
* Work with HA Group Fleet IT Superintendent team to ensure new builds include and adhere to latest operational standards and policies
* Review any IT changes that affect aesthetics/interior design with HA Group design team
* Recommend changes to specification or design based on IT trends

Requirements

* 4-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Minimum of 8-10 years' experience in Refit, Shipbuilding, or related experience
* Strong hands-on performer with multiple years of information technology and electronic engineering
* Strong vendor relationship management and negotiation skills
* Knowledge of Project Management principles and software
* Ability to prioritize and manage objectives with management
* Ability to travel, domestically as well as internationally, up to 35%
