Responsibilities

As a Management Information Specialist, you will:

* Provide technical assistance, advice and guidance for a variety of MIS applications affecting certain aspects of the program office.
* Recommend actions and projects as appropriate, outlining needed resources, projected time frames and required coordination.
* Assist with conducting and planning projected work processes, operational practices and needs assessments, which will affect program office operations.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. This position is located in the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH). PIH's mission is to provide low-income families affordable housing opportunities as they transition to self-sufficiency and homeownership. PIH oversees the administration of HUD's Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Section 8 Rental Assistance, and Native American Programs through a staff of Headquarters and Field employees. The field structure for PIH consists of 29 Hub Offices and 16 Program Centers that provide oversight, direct monitoring, and coordination for approximately 4,200 public housing authorities.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is one (1) year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and has equipped the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully. It includes the following:

* Providing guidance on data processing projects and software issues; AND
* Conducting analysis of systems to assist in determining the nature of system requirements and whether or not new systems or enhancements should be developed; AND
* Providing input on IT budget feasibility or project justification studies; AND
* Assists in developing and implementing data processing methods and techniques which are utilized in management information activities.

Time-in-Grade:

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:

For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment:

Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
